General description of the school and the curriculum:
Ballard is an award-winning, independent private school in New Milton. We believe in a bespoke education for your child within a nurturing and engaging environment. Set in 32 acres of beautiful grounds located between the New Forest National Park and the coast we offer an all-round education for children aged 2–16 with fantastic facilities and great success stories. A family-friendly, holistic school, we continue to do exceptionally well by our pupils. We are committed to academic rigour, wide opportunities and good manners. This ‘roundedness’, we believe, stands the test of time and creates fine citizens for the future. The School is a non-profit making Educational Trust under a Board of Governors. The school is non-selective and boasts a strong examination success record which enables students to achieve their first choice of school for the next stage of their education.
A broad curriculum taught by inspirational, specialist staff, combined with a diverse range of activities and trips, this approach nurtures self-confidence and helps develop each child’s personality. We offer extensive opportunities across the four pillars of Ballard: sport, arts, STEM and life throughout your child’s education. By providing an environment which encourages children to participate and contribute, we provide a solid grounding in both academic and life skills. Whether you want the best start in life for your child, help with 11+, common entrance or GCSE our approach reaps many benefits. We consistently achieve exceptional results for a non-selective school but it is not just our A* pupils who make us proud; we celebrate every child’s achievements.

There is a strong emphasis on pastoral care throughout the school. We pride ourselves on being a family school with Christian values and encourage an ethos of concern for others, unselfish attitudes, an awareness of rights and a sense of confidence in communicating with people of all ages. Children are encouraged to take on responsibility from an early age and we run a mentoring programme whereby older children help younger children, whether it be in the classroom, on stage, on the sports field or at play. We also have a dedicated Department of Enhanced Learning (learning support) with CReSTeD status which provides extra resources for those who need it and offer English as an Additional Language (EAL).
